How To Get Started

Thank you for visiting this page. We are glad you have expressed interest in re-enacting with the 14th South Carolina and we are all here to help you get started.

The first thing to do is visit our 2012 Event Schedule and find an event we will be at. Next, contact one of our recruiters (email is located on the top right of the page). All of our recruiters have many years in the hobby and will gladly speak with you and get you started with us.

Once you have decided on an event, we will get you directions and other information on how to get to the event. At the event, we will fully outfit you in a complete uniform, before you have to spend one dime on your own kit. We do this because this hobby can be expensive, and if it is not for you we’d hate to see you spend good money on a hobby you may not be happy with. We then put you through a training regimen so you will know how to properly handle the weapons and how to drill on the field.

If you decide that you want to continue with the hobby and join our group, we will give you our membership application to fill out. We will also issue you our New member Handbook, and assign a mentor to you to assist you in purchasing the correct uniforms (there is a lot of junk out there, so always follow our guidelines for purchasing anything). Your mentor will also answer any questions you have about the hobby.

We communicate all our event information via a special, members only internet site. All  the event information, uniform requirements, corporate documents, and even period drill manuals will be available to you to download from this site.

We hope you will contact us to get started. We are eager to meet new friends and share our passion for Civil War history. We are beginning to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the war and it is a special and exciting time to get involved.

We look forward to seeing you around the campfire.
